GPS Protocols

The GLOBE Programme uses GPS (Global Positioning System) to find out exactly where you are on the surface of the earth. It gives position in latitude, longitude and altitude (height above sea level) and is vital so that GLOBE can present your information on maps.  It is recorded using a hand-held GPS receiver - the same technology used in car 'Sat-Nav' systems.

Everyone is free to try out the activities, but you need to be a registered GLOBE Centre before you can input your own data.  Find out how to register for the GLOBE Programme.
