Here are some useful sites to support environmental education.

Wildlife WATCH is the UK's leading environmental action club for children offering so many activities, experiences and opportunities for children to find out about our wildlife that you'll be amazed! It is the junior branch of The Wildlife Trusts - and children across the UK can get involved.

 

 

 

ARKive is a digital library of wildlife on earth, with a section for globally endangered species and one for British species too. Amazing digital photos plus movie clips.
The Association for the Conservation of Energy aims to encourage awareness of the need for, and benefits of, energy conservation. There is information on the 'why's and 'how's of energy conservation, along with papers and links to governmental policies.
The BBC Weather site is a wonderful source of weather information for all.  There are images of current UK weather, local forecasts, world weather and more...!   
Butterfly Conservation is the UK charity responsible for the conservation and monitoring of butterfly species. Their website is informative and easy to navigate as you discover more about butterflies and their habitats. Help - by reporting sightings.
The Centre for Sustainable Energy seeks sustainable energy solutions that engage people and communities to meet real needs for both environmentally sound and affordable energy services.
The Council for Environmental Education is an umbrella organisation consisting of 76 national organisations with interests in education, the environment and sustainable development.
The Countryside Agency is charged by DEFRA to look after our countryside, their website is packed with information about rural life and issues affecting the countryside.
CREATE is a not-for-profit body working with communities and organisations to reduce the effects of climate change and build a sustainable future. Their website has a special schools section.
Defra - the Department of the Environment, fisheries and Rural Affairs - is the Government department working for the essentials of life: water, food, air, land, people, animals and plants
EcoSchools is an award scheme that gets everyone in the school community involved in making the school environment better. GLOBE links with EcoSchools by providing ways to record the data collected at your school.  
INCPEN is the Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment, and they look at the way packaging is used in our society and how it affects our environment. Their education pack has information and resources for primary and secondary age students.
The Environment Agency is the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales. It's their job to make sure that air, land and water are looked after by everyone in today's society, so that tomorrow's generations inherit a cleaner, healthier world - check out their Fun and Games section for kids
The Forestry Commission is responsible for the protection and expansion of Britain's forests and woodlands. Their website contains a huge library of facts about forestry and sustainability in the UK.
Forest Education Initiative provides resources about trees, forests and forest products. They will work directly with schools and provide forest-based teaching resources.

Greenhouse Gas Online is a source of freely available and up to date news and information on greenhouse gas issues. 
Learning through Landscapes provides training, resources and support to develop school grounds to benefit the environment and learning.
For links to the Darwin Centre, live webcasts and all the natural history you can absorb, the Natural History Museum website is a fantastic resource.
  Naturenet has information relevant to anyone in the UK looking for countryside information in a fun, easy to use website.
RSPB - the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds - is a UK charity working to secure a healthy environment for birds and wildlife, helping to create a better world for us all.  They also have a kids activity page here
Waste Watch is the leading national organisation promoting and encouraging action on the 3Rs - waste reduction, reuse and recycling. GLOBE SD activities link to the waste projects developed by WasteWatch.
Wiggly Wigglers are one of the foremost mail order suppliers of natural gardening products in the UK.  They also help schools to create wildlife areas and increase biodiversity.
Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust have wonderful visitor centres all over the UK offering visits for the public and for educational groups. Their website is packed with teaching resources and information for children.
The Wildlife Forever web site shows how one lady has changed her Devon garden to be a haven for wildlife. This fantastic website has tips, photos and help for any wildlife enthusiast.
WWF - the World Wildlife Fund - conserves endangered species, protects threatened habitats and addresses global threats. They try to find long-term solutions that benefit both people and nature.

 

The Young People's Trust for the Environment's website is so packed with information, fact and figures that you'll be amazed - everything from Aardvark to Zebra (even worms!). It's fun and easy to navigate.
