The Northumbrian Water GLOBE Project

What if your school or education centre is not selected?

If your school or education centre is not selected to join the 85 schools receiving support from Northumbrian Water, you can still get involved by coming on one of the training courses and using existing equipment in your school or education centre.

The training will be taking place throughout the North East starting in July 2007 and continuing in the Autumn Term.  The cost of attending a GLOBE training day is £80 per teacher, and if you can provide a venue and at least six paying delegates, then one teacher is free!

The equipment that you need to participate in GLOBE is entirely up to you, and depends what parts of GLOBE you want to use.  For weather measurements, you can start with the free cloud charts provided during your training, or use a Stephenson's Screen with thermometers and a rain gauge.  Or you could buy a state-of-the-art automated weather station, which will cost up to £1,000.  The choice is yours!
